A simple golf warm up: reduce golf injuries

Do you warm up for golf? Do you get golf injuries? Matt and Corinne spend a lot of time at the golf course, and the simple observation is that most people do not warm up before they play. Rolling a few putts, and making a few swings on the first tee does not count.


Do you take 3 holes before you start playing well?

Do you make funny noises after your first shot of the day? Groans, clicks, cracks etc

Do you like to play well?

Do you have an injury you are dealing with?

Do you play or practice multiple times a week?


These are all good reasons to warm up, and there are many more. Science tells us that a warm up does reduce your risk of golf injuries, but it also tells us that a warm up helps you hit the ball better! Sounds good to us!


A warm up does not need to be complicated. Simply get the body warm, joints moving, muscles contracting, blood pumping, and then build up your movements to the task you are trying to do.


Here is a really simple golf warm up you can do on the first tee, practice green, parking lot, driving range. It will take you 5 minutes max and then you can roll some putts, hit some chips, and make some full swings before you hit your first shot.

Now, there are lots of different ways to warm up, and lots of movements you could use. This is a simple generic one that works well.
